Despite the fact that My Chemical Romance discarded most of the album they had recorded [ 8 ] under the production of Brendan O'Brien [ 12 ] which years later would be released under the title Conventional weapons as a scrap album , « Party Poison »was one of the songs rescued and included in the final edition of the fourth album, Danger days , after reworking on it with producer Rob Cavallo. Way has stated that both the original title of the song and other aspects of it felt "old", and that instead of this he preferred to use the expression party poison because he felt it was something new, that it did not exist.
At first, Party Poison was what they called the yellow laser pistol that Gerard Way uses in the album's video clips , [ 4 ] but later the names of the pistols, as he has commented, began to be used as the names of the characters, although he maintains that in the songs they are not telling stories.
Spin magazine describes "Party Poison" as "the most straightforward punk song on Danger days : guitar riffs that look like saws, thunderous drum hits and Way howling over the chorus", [ 8 ] while Alternative Press is he refers to it as "a moment of protopunk debauchery. Regarding the content of the letter, Gerard Way has stated that " it is really about the power of the rock of the working class against the power of fame.
It's working class rock versus fucking Chanel bags and red carpets and all that shit. Rock and roll is not about red carpets or friends on Myspace ; rock and roll is dangerous, and it should piss people off.
The vocalist of the group, during an early stage in the composition of the album, stated that it was a song that stood out among the others. In a July interview with Rolling Stone magazine , he commented that the song presents a completely different sound for the band and that, in terms of lyrics, it is a return to fiction from their first album. He also noted that "Party Poison" was "the greatest song" they had ever written and that it was his favorite My Chemical Romance song. In addition, he compared this song to a well-known song by the American Bruce Springsteen : "I think we wrote our own ' Born to Run ', and I'm very excited about that.
The first live performances of the song were performed at The Roxy nightclub in Los Angeles as of July 31, and at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan. But it never feels like guys are ripping off anyone - this all feels like a tribute to good quality hard rock music.

In fandom lore, Party Poison is a popular character, with countless pieces of fan art and fan fiction made to celebrate this iconic Killjoy.
Very little is known about Party Poison's life. It's known that he was friends with Dr. Death Defying [2] and Cherri Cola [3] , and helped raised the girl along with the rest of the Four. While he was portrayed by an adult in the music videos, the comics establish that the Four were actually teenagers when they died. Party Poison was killed personally by Korse when the Four broke into Battery City to save the girl [4].
After his death, Party Poison and Four were revered as heroes in the Zones. Years later, Val Velocity dyed his hair red in an unsuccessful attempt to co-opt Party Poison's image. Party Poison was known for his bright red hair, blue Dead Pegasus jacket with red-and-white detailing, yellow ray gun, and iconic yellow mask with blue sequins.
He occasionally wore a Mousekat head with a breathing tube. He was also shown wearing goggles and a checkered bandana. Party Poison's symbol was a pill inside a circle, with an X beneath the pill. This symbol was printed on the back of his jacket. Party Poison's outfit was designed by Gerard Way , who also played the character in the music videos.
He chose red hair because it was the "color of irritation" [5]. Gerard Way also ran a Twitter account for the character around the time of the album 's release [6]. Party Poison was not shown in the comics except for a few brief glimpses during a flashback scene.
